Guarantee YOUR M&H BAT

As soon as this bat leaves the workshop, it will be subject to the wear and tear of cricket games and practice. Willow is by its very nature, a soft wood that, when pressed, provides the rebound qualities required to strike the ball. Wood is a natural product, which can only take so much stress and strain.
The life span of a bat should be measured by how much ball impact it sustains, not the length of time you own it, the customer who uses a bat seven days a week should expect it to break seven times quicker than that of the customer who uses it once.

To make sure you give your new M&H bat the best possible care please see our guide below:

PREPARATION

Firstly we recommend that you coat the bat all over with two light coats of linseed oil. Lay the bat face up to dry, leaving around 8 hours between coats

To prepare your bat for use with ball the blade face should then be gradually knocked in. This process aims to stretch and harden the wood fibres. This may cause some small hairline cracks to appear which in no way affect the performance.

Initially round off the edges with a good quality bat mallet, then move onto the face and toe of the bat, these areas need to be done with reasonable force until indentations cease to be made when the blade is struck. Imagine you are simulating a ball striking the face at 50mph.
An accurate time frame cannot be put on this process, however, the greater time spent on knocking in, the greater likelihood of a longer lasting bat. Remember to concentrate on the areas that are most susceptible to breaking.

We would now recommend the application of a protective facing.

Always begin use of a new bat using soft, old balls -with controlled hitting, gradually progress to newer balls.

Avoid bowling machine practice until the bat is well knocked in.

RETURNS & WARRANTY

Our warranty is honoured against the workmanship and material for a period of 12 months.
Depending on the cause, not all damage will automatically be covered by this warranty;
Some common causes of serious bat damage which are not covered by the warranty:

o Split toe caused by digging out a Yorker
o High impact damage to the edges
o Use of low quality balls, which can be very hard with high seams resulting in excessive point impact damage.
o Water damage (normally caused by tapping the bat repeatedly on wet ground)

Whilst unfortunate, these types of damage are not attributable to poor materials or workmanship.
In all cases (warranty and non-warranty) experienced staff at M&H will make an assessment of the damage and its cause and advise on the most appropriate course of action.

If you feel you have a genuine warranty claim please either send images of the damage for assessment to info@millichampandhall.co.uk or alternatively return your bat directly to us @:
